Medical Outreach

The Medical Outreach Program of Together for Ghana e.V. is a crucial initiative aimed at improving healthcare in rural and underserved areas of Ghana. Through the project, we regularly send doctors/dentists and medical students to remote areas of Ghana. The program brings much-needed medical services directly to the people who benefit most from them. This initiative is an integral part of Together for Ghana e.V.’s mission to promote equal opportunities and sustainable development. The medical team of the Presbyterian Hospital regularly organizes outreach programs specifically targeting communities with limited access to healthcare or where transportation to the nearest hospital poses a significant financial burden. A central component of our program is conducting comprehensive health screenings and awareness campaigns.

Program Objectives:

  1. Access to Medical Care:
    • Providing basic medical services in remote areas that often have little or no access to healthcare centers.
    • Conducting regular mobile clinics to ensure that all community members have access to necessary medical care.
  2. Health Education:
    • Conducting awareness campaigns about common diseases, prevention measures, and general health practices.
    • Training community members on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, family planning, and sexual health.
  3. Early Detection and Prevention:
    • Performing preventive check-ups and screening programs for early detection of diseases such as malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and diabetes.
    • Providing vaccinations and preventive measures against avoidable diseases.
  4. Emergency Care and Treatment:
    • Treating acute medical cases and referring patients who need specialized treatments to hospitals.
    • Providing medications and medical equipment to treat common illnesses and injuries.

Program Components:

  1. Mobile Clinics:
    • Equipped vehicles serving as mobile clinics, bringing medical teams to remote villages.
    • These clinics offer comprehensive medical examinations, treatments, and on-site consultations.
  2. Medical Camps:
    • Organizing multi-day medical camps in particularly needy areas.
